JMJ has been supporting the Poor Children of Annupampattu and Kanniyambakka in Chennai, India since 2015.
Introduction: Education encourages economic self reliance.
Young people will be more likely to be economically independent if they are educated. Therefore it is very important to ensure that every child receives an education to help them escape the vicious cycle of poverty in which they find themselves. The Sisters of Maria Auxiliatrix (SMA), have vowed to ensure that no child in their care will be deprived of an education. With the support of JMJ Children’s Fund of Canada we are able to further this dream. We enjoy observing the progress made by these children, year by year. It gives us joy and the strength to work for these underprivileged young ones.

hildren are committed, and are aware that the help they receive is for their education. They exhibit responsibility by concentrating on their studies. The Sisters in the mission centers mentor and monitor them through continuous guidance. This year we noticed that many children have appeared for the public examination which is an important mile-stone in their lives. We are very happy to see their progress.
